Old Southendians 1s 4–1 Blue Hearts 2s

After last week’s frustrating 1–1 draw, the Old Southendians 1s were back in action looking to put a few more goals on the board — and this time, they certainly didn’t disappoint.

OSHC started brightly and were soon causing problems for the Blue Hearts defence. The first goal came after a short corner that broke down, but rather than giving up on the move, Sam kept things alive and the ball eventually fell kindly for a brilliant reverse-stick finish.

Then came the short corners. After last week’s memorable 0 goals from 7 short corners, OSHC clearly decided it was time to rewrite the script. Ben stepped up and produced 2 flicks from short corners, sending the ball into the net and proving that last week’s conversion rate was, hopefully, just a temporary glitch.

Jack then got in on the action, finishing off another scrappy short-corner to add a fourth and put OSHC firmly in control.

Blue Hearts managed to grab a goal of their own, but there was little doubt about who was in charge, as OSHC eventually ran out 4–1 winners.

Four goals, all from short corners, and a very welcome improvement from last week’s 0/7 record.
