Another cold day at Saffron Waldon with questionable pitch conditions however the match was to be played anyway. The first half consisted of both teams thawing out after the cold break, which resulted in a quiet half with only two notable events. A fantastic diving save by keeper Joe and the half time whistle being blown just as Jacket was winding up for a shot on the Walden penalty spot. Maybe the umpire knew something and was trying to spare someone the shame, whether it be the keeper or Jacket, I guess we'll never know.
The second half started with Waldon on the front foot however the first goal was to come from an Old Boys counter with Jack Summers slotting a reverse hit in from a near impossible angle, almost a perfect copy of one from Rhys a few years prior. The Old Boys joy was short lived with Waldon slipping two goals in quick succession of each other shortly after. Old Southendians were presented with a chance to equalise with Toby Jordan doing all the hard work to put it on a plate for the new Coepland, Jesus, only for him to take a massive swipe at and make zero contact. The final notable event was a Saffron Waldon break with Rhys Durban charging straight through the attacker to earn himself a green card, despite protest from Asa Nash claiming the pitch was too slippery for him to stop.
Final score Old Southendians 1, Saffron Waldon 2.
Player of the match was awarded to Asa Nash for a solid performance all game as well as having Rhys' back.
Jacket of shame goes to Jesus for the inability to hit a slowly moving ball.
