With numbers low for the ladies 1s this week with some injuries and illness, a depleted side headed to Lee Valley. Thankfully with Catchpole, Ana and now regular attendee Becs coming to the rescue to make numbers up to 12 the girls just about pulled a team together. It was a bit of a slow start from the girls with people playing out of position, crostyx took advantage and got themselves ahead. Some great saves from Ash and a class save on the line from Lynds preventing a top bins goal kept the girls in the game. Some great play from Becs, Ana and Kirsty linking up on the right had us going at the crostyx defence but unfortunately no goals came to show for it.
3-0 down, Kirst gave the girls a strong team talk at half time, with the plan to give 110% to the very end even with tired legs and limited subs. Some more great play and fight shown from the girls but unfortunately crostyx snuck one more goal in. An injury to the captain saw the girls play the last 15 minutes with 11 but they fought hard with some more attacks up the wings. With a last second short corner won for the old girls some hope was given for a consolation goal, unfortunately after a couple of feet and the corner being retaken, crostyx managed to clear the ball to leave the score at 4-0.
So proud of all of these girls for putting up a fight and very grateful for the girls stepping up to help us out. A tough game to follow against Chelmsford for the last game before the Christmas break but hopefully with some home advantage and better availability this week can see the girls get back to winning ways!
