Ladies 1’s pre game changing room antics started as they meant to go on- I was late, Kirsty Durban was deciding between which stick to use (her dribbling one or her shooting one of course) and Sarah Carter gave the only way she knows how to G the team up- her live rendition of Not Fair by Lily Allen.

We warmed up with enthusiasm, being the first on the pitch and organised in our drills before Upminster had even opened the astro gates. Being back in Div 2, the Ladies 1’s were keen to make a statement early on and get our promotion back into to Div 1 for the 3rd time in a row.

Pushback whistle went and within 3 minutes goal number 1 was in! Textbook run from Kirsty and push back to Ashlie who tapped it in. Another minute went by and goal number 2! We were taking no prisoners. Goal 3 and then number 4 scored by yours truly (assisted by the goal post and the umpire himself). We wrapped up the first half with a score of 5-0 and some great play. Welcome to div 2 Upminster!

Second half was a little slower, as the team relaxed and let a few things slip. Sarah Carter started practising aiming for the sides of the pitch instead of the goal and Ashlie was getting too excited at being back by the goal - a lot more back swing and a little less goal scoring compared to the first half however we made it up to 6-0.

Upminster then took advantage of our slack and jimmied one in taking us to 6-1. We came back with yet another goal just for the shits and giggs to end the game with 7-1. Mom went to Jemima for cracking play and Ashlie came away with a 4 goals to hit the ground running for top goal scorer.
