The mum mobile set off with the kids trick or treat sweets from the night before.

We were off to Upminster… the last time we were here was the promotion day battle to win the league and we were beaten. They had 12 players that day… and unfortunately today was the same situation… our good old friend was there to greet us.

The battle began and both teams were going for it. Unfortunately, a short corner for Upminster and well drilled routine to put them 1-0 up.
Captain Tash knew what needed to be done, on comes Ash at right back. Some say it was just like Moses’ parting of the Red Sea - off she goes from a 16, a driving force through the middle, Upminster split the pitch and into the D she goes, strikes from the top and Amy manages to get on the to end be of it. 1-1, we’re back in the game.

Rest of the half consisted of lots of cards, good thing half time came around to calm things down.

Second half begins and the old girls carry on fighting. Second goal came from exactly what Bill and Giles have taught us… play it out from the back, get it out to the legs on the wing, drive the baseline, slot it across goal and in. A goal like our first but this way round, Amy doing the run and Ash on the end of it. 2-1.

After a mix of tackles, one of Upminster’s players ended up with a split eyebrow. It was an OSHC ball, Amy decides to tell Gee to knock it off the side of the pitch… she took being let’s be kind to them way too literally. Unfortunately, Upminster then went up the other end and scored… I personally take full blame for that goal. Sorry girls and the reason why I’m writing this match report.

2-2 and 10 mins to go. Squeaky bum time.

But the fire in the girls belly continued. We weren’t coming away from this game with anything less than 3 points. Final comes once again from the back, a lovely aerial, onto Kenny who roofs it into the net. 3-2 to the girlies.

Last 2 mins comes around and Amy finds herself in a 1 on 1, to be honest, I saw my name in lights …. and don’t know where this unjustified confidence came from as I decided it was a good idea to lob the keeper. I can confirm, the confidence stays unjustified as unfortunately it missed the goal by an inch… next time!

Overall, a fabulous performance from the girls. The promotion train keeps on chugging and as always, we go again!
