We’re back!!! The Ladies 1s kicked off the season with the first game of the day at The Fortress. The team looked a little different to last year, often having 4-5 subs last year, the ladies went out with bare 11 with our newbie Liv making her amazing debut and Ri and Catchpole stepping up into our back line. Despite having no subs, the ladies weren’t fazed. We went out hard, shocking ourselves and especially Coach Bill. You wouldn’t have been able to tell some of the team hadn't held a stick in months!
The first half was all us, it definitely didn’t look like our first game back with some well worked passing, runs and some short corner routines thanks to Niamh that looked like we’d actually practiced them! Some incredible runs from Becs, Ana, Milly and Liv! A lovely between the legs backwards tap in from our Els, a beautifully done top bins deflection from our Rear of the Year Mills, and two textbook goals from our top goalscorer Ash and the game was won. Maldon came back strong in the second half giving our defence a bit more work to do but we kept a clean sheet and secured the 4-0 win! A great start from the ladies for the first game back! Shoutout to Milly for playing despite having to rush off straight to a wedding, and big thanks to Kenny for being our lonely loud supporter on the side
