What a lovely sunny day for a nice friendly game of hockey.. unfortunately some may not have just missed out on the memo!

The ladies rocked up to Warners, down to bare 11 which unfortunately we’re getting quite used to, subs are overrated right..

Old South knew it was gonna be a tough battle out there, with no subs and a few looking a bit worse for wear but the aim was to go out hard and try and get ahead early.

And that is exactly what we did, we started out strong with attacks, winning a short corner where Niamh slotted one in to give us the lead! Shortly followed by a Bash tackle resulting in a green. Upminster levelled the score with a lovely lifted finish and then unfortunately bobbled another one in with a bit of help with some tap dancing feet! But with some fab saves from Sue this is absolutely forgiven!

Only down 2-1 the ladies were still in it. A strong team talk from Jay tried to get us going to get back in the game.

A great goal from Charlotte gave us a glimmer of hope but unfortunately the heat, lack of subs and energy gifted Upminster the lead again.

Some fab runs from Grace up the left and Chloe and Jemima up the right who unfortunately was the target of quite a few rugby style shoves (maybe taking a leaf out of Bash’s book;) ) but she kept going and winning the fouls!

A wonderful goal from Kate! Shame it was in the wrong goal… but I came to the rescue to counteract it with what I must say was a superb cricket style goal line clearance.. unfortunately couldn’t quite stop the next goal from going in finishing the game 6-2 to Upminster.

Big shout outs to Ri and Beccy (who is absolutely battered and bruised) for playing two games this weekend, absolute troopers! And big thanks to Chloe, Charlotte and Sue for slotting right in with us! And big thank you to everyone that came down to support, hope you all at least got a bit of a tan from the sun! So proud of all of you girls for showing up and giving it everything every week!!!
