It was the penultimate home match of the and with 4 games remaining we were still in search of our first win of the season. Despite the results not having gone our way, many of the results didn’t reflect the performances that we had put in with everyone giving it their all. This was another one of those games.

It all started pretty even to begin with. The first few minutes showed good fight from both sides. Unfortunately about 10 minutes in Thurrock managed to break through and score the first of two goals which came within a couple of minutes of each other. The remainder of the first half was goalless but with good battling for possession. We managed our own share of attacks up the oppositions end of the pitch with some great moves and chances to score but unfortunately to no avail.

The second half brought more of the same. Play was good with some great movement around the pitch and creating potential chances to advance forward. About ten minutes in Thurrock managed to increase their lead to 3-0 and then about 20 minutes later not far from the end of the match completed their goal scoring tally with their fourth through a well executed flick from a short corner. As unfortunate as the score was the hockey we played continued to show the signs of our battling spirit. The second half contained more chances for us putting them under more pressure and definitely put them on edge at times with some close chances at scoring and attacks into their D with some great joint play amongst everyone in the team.

Despite another unfortunate result it was another great performance from the team showing the great hockey that we can play together. With three games remaining in this season we will give it all we can in search of a win in this challenging league.
