This was a very evenly matched Division 4 contest with both teams playing some lovely hockey. We would have taken a draw at any stage of the match as their defence continually thwarted our relentless attacks. Somehow we found the back of the net from great positioning by Suzie with 10 minutes left of the match. A penalty corner awarded to Havering as the final whistle blew was a nerve racking end to the game but our defence held strong and we kept the sheet clean.
As first games of the season go I can't think of a better one that I have played in and I could not have asked any more of the Team. They were truly brilliant.
A big thank you to my fellow Captains for helping with the nightmare of availability and selection this week. Especially the fourth team who had to move many players up to help us out.
