Our Ladies 4s and Ladies 5s both riding high from their first win of the season, had to draw their swords against each other. A lovely family game ensued with no less than 13 family members playing on the pitch, their allegiances split between the white and the gold. In the first couple of minutes the whites came out strong and gained a Penalty corner ably defended by the gold team and it was the wake-up call they needed to start attacking.
Before ten minutes was up a sideline ball from Liv made it up the left wing ending with Chloe slotting it in the left corner of the goal. Another 5 minutes of play and Darcey found the back of the goal and her way onto the scoresheet. Lots of the gold teams attacks were scuppered but Sophie tried so hard the pitch fell from under her feet a few times earning her the salamander for the week.
There were mum versus daughter battles across the pitch, the Butts butted heads, the Rapps ran rings around each other and the Williams just tried to outsprint one another. Soon the ball fell to Paige who confidently ran the ball into the circle and found a hole no one else saw between the keeper and the right post with a resounding bang the gold team were 3-0 up.
After a short break at half time we resumed with good humour, the tenacity of the white team showing again when they were awarded an early Penalty corner which Suzie slotted home for the whites.
As the game drew to a close, the hockey ball was reaching both ends of the pitch, but no further goals were realised, despite Suzie managing to floor Max and Liv and Michelle giving no quarter in their fight for the ball. Abi, Chloe and Paige still got shots off in the circle, parried away by Char.
All in all a fabulous and fun time, the 4s continue winning ways and look forward to hosting Redbridge next week.
